Take it apart, use latex gloves. Dump the metal/electronic parts into a bucket, use 95+% IPA and scrub it all with a brush. Don't use IPA on the plastic, as it's going to damage it irreversibly. Use dish soap and a soft brush to get rid of any residue on the plastic. I'd absolutely try to salvage it.

The way I play import games is by ripping the ISO, patching it with ESRDiscPatcher, and then burning it onto a normal DVD-R disc.
